Overview

Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you have a disability severe enough that you need someone to help look after you.
It’s paid at 2 different rates and how much you get depends on the level of care that you need because of your disability.
You could get £55.65 or £83.10 a week to help with personal support if you’re both:

physically or mentally disabled
aged 65 or over
It doesn’t cover mobility needs.

The other benefits you get can increase if you get Attendance Allowance.
You don’t have to have someone caring for you in order to claim.
If you do have a carer, they could get Carer’s Allowance if you have substantial caring needs.

And I`m sure anyone who puts in a claim for this benefit would have to attend a face to face assessment and not (as it was in the past) just filling in a form? I know that anyone over pension age who claims PIP needs to do this in order to keep qualifying for PIP, but not too sure about Attendance Allowance. There are so many in and out of work benefits people sometimes don`t know they are entitled to claim it, but the work involved to do so is like trekking through treacle.
