Any reptiles come knocking on my door without an invite will get the reply 'be with you in a minute' duly receive a bucket of crap over them.

I would check their ID first though before returning from loo. :cheer:

You can reschedule the visit if you need to www.gov.uk/dwp-visit . They will need to! either for a full dry clean, or a visit to haul themselves through the nearest car wash and come up smelling rosies for once.

Your name is selected at random to be checked. You’ll get a letter in advance telling you about the visit.
I wonder how many years it took them to add this little piece of information :) .

Trying to be nosy and intimidate you in your own home.
There is no reason this appointment can't take place at the jc, you can obviously show them the paperwork they want at a jc.
I suppose they'll want tea and biscuits from you aswell.

I wonder if people with children in the house could refuse them entry until they show evidence that they have had an enhanced DBS check.

I'm surprised this hasn't come up in parliament or mentioned by so-called socialist MPs who seem more concerned with soft-left issues like imagined political correctness infringements.

I had a similar visit many years ago when claiming Income Support (before it was replaced by ESA). I did receive a letter telling me I was being visited beforehand so it meant I could prepare the documents in advance of the visit. The guy was an older gent and nice enough. Even told me that when I attend assessments or provide medical evidence, to really specify in detail why I need to claim because his WIFE apparently had problems with the system! If memory serves me well, he asked to see my birth certificate, my most recent bank statement, my national insurance card and a few other documents. Just noted these in his files and that was it. just gave him some info about myself and that was it.

Looking back, I was nervous about the visit, but these days, I am far more versed in why these interview visits take place. I also had a similar visit from someone at my council, checking up on bank statements, tenancy, who lived in the house etc...that was about seven years ago. Still have the letter.

Apparently people can rearrange the visit to take place at the DWP or jobcentre. If that's the case why would they make the visit to you in the first place. It's just intimidation.

"What to expect. The officer will interview you in your home and will want to see 2 forms of identification. Visits usually last up to an hour but may be longer.". :woohoo:

A couple of points, first why are they doing this , it says on the website "The reason for the visit is to collect national statistics on the benefits system.". Surely they can do this in the JCP? And secondly, it take these people 'Visits usually last up to an hour but may be longer." to check 2x forms of ID! What are these clowns going to do for the other 59x mins, pulling their ####'s. Still it keeps someone in a job :pinch:

I wouldn’t let them in without a police officer present for safety reasons—especially if you have children.

You would think it contravenes a Human Rights/Civil liberty act that could be challenged? Also you might be able to charge them for having to clean your carpet after they have been. If they came around to mine they would see the poverty I live in. Then I could see if there is any humanity in these people? :silly:
