NOT Just Pensioners but Anyone receiving Benefits using a PO Account Card

Hundreds of thousands of elderly people are being forced to close Post Office accounts where their state pension is paid.

The Post Office Card Account was launched for people who did not have a bank account and needed somewhere to receive pension and benefits payments.

But the Government is now phasing the account out, as it is too expensive to run. Ministers say that it is far easier today for pensioners to open a current account with high street banks.
