Click on the top three news stories to read about changes being made to ATOS & CAPITA in Scotland and also, Citizens Advice being given millions to help people to claim Universal Credit. :( This means UC is here to stay if the government are throwing millions at this. All helpful to claimants of course, but not so good for us all being eventually controlled by a nasty system of draconian rules and restrictions. Not to mention the flaws this system has and continues to have.

Then there is MAXIMUS clawing in millions from the misery of people being made to endure ESA assessments. Sadly, they will still operate in Scotland because ESA is not one of the benefits being handled by the Scottish government. Can`t see that happening for a while either as things are only being transferred at a snails pace year on year.

"Alan McIntosh, an independent blogger on debt said Citizen Advice and Citizen Advice Scotland had misjudged the issue, and allowed themselves to be used as a "kevlar vest" by work and pensions minister Ester McVey.

"They have previously criticised the roll out of Universal Credit and called it disastrous. It now appears they are going into a partnership with the DWP to assist in that roll out. This is without new money being made available or any regulatory reform taking place to mitigate the effects," he said. "

"Private firms axed from new Scottish welfare tests for benefit claimants"

"Scotland’s new social security agency will carry out its own assessments of benefit claims in a move that confirms an end to the controversial involvement of private sector firms in the process."

Shame the `other` assessment company Maximus are not going to be `kicked out` of Scotland as that won`t help anyone claiming ESA. A benefit which is still controlled by Westminster and probably will be for a long time unless Scotland decided to add it to their new social security budget plan. Can`t see it happening personally for at least 10 years and that will only materialise of Scotland retain the same level of SNP changes. Labour may or may not impliment the same changes if they were to take over in Scotland, so it`s anyone`s guess as to how this will all play out.

I would hope that all assessments would be carried out by GP`s (and not nurses, physiotherapists or paramedics) who know nothing about the person sat in front of them apart from a paper form and a few sheets of evidence.

I would love to be able to hold down a part time job that I looked forward to going to each week and still be able to have a work/life balance and manage my health on a daily basis, but as things are, I struggle with that. But I know the ESA system is one that refuses to bend and people in my position are always found fit for work and have to justify why they are not. If my own GP was involved, it would be a matter of HIM doing the questioning and looking at my medical history and evaluating what I may or may not be able to do.

We all cling to the hope that the end is nigh for these assessments that are basically are only able to fulfill their end goal and that is to take away people`s entitlement.
