Medical Assessors get 17 days training and the Secretary of State deems them competent.

Staggering! :S

I`ve had two so called nurses on both my ESA work capability assessments and twice they deemed me fit for work. I soon rubbished their lies twice and turned both decisions around. These people may be health care professionals in their own fields, but once they take the DWP mind bending seminars on how to find everyone capable of working, their professionalism goes out the window and cash signs appear. How they can say someone is fit to work based on a short snap shot assessment is beyond me.

I was going to start a new thread but this seems to tag on here.

I had my latest medical of the WCA today. My bus missed and I was 15 minutes late as a result. It wouldn't surprise me that even though they still saw me it was classed as failing to turn up. And even though that means they were behind it doesn't make it alright to whizz through questions some of a very sensitive nature. I made sure I managed to slow it down in places. It went at such a lick that I know it was just to tick boxes and there will be 0 points. Obviously I am going to be happy to be proven wrong on this occasion but the writing is on the wall. The waiting area was full up on the way out and it seems Maximus are cramming the medicals in.

What absolutely baffles me is that they don't even try and make it look authentic by wearing a uniform. The registered nurse who saw me was wearing jeans! My mother was a nurse for over 30 years so I guess I am biased but it does not reflect good standards. Clearly they don't give a sh*t that they don't give a sh*t. Anyway I don't expect to be reporting any surprises this time around. I was given 2 weeks as a rough guide to expect a response then after that I have to contact the local joke centre which is in a different building. Mandatory gimmick reconsideration and dragged out appeal (oh the irony) here we come...

Ah, what memories Verc. I know them well. I`m sure the medical professionals they employ and train for a week in room with a clip board and a tutor clued up on how to make money from the sick & dying are keen to get started. Their medical knowledge seems to go out the window in favour of clicking a keyboard which denies anyone survives leaving the room without feeling their fate is already sealed. The waiting room I attended last year was empty....maybe they were fast tracked on a conveyer belt before I turned up!

Fingers crossed for you Verc on the decision, but you know what to do if it`s a no. B)

Thanks comply, yes I am used to them although 4 years since the last one.

It is usually empty at my centre too that's what made me comment as there was one woman being turned away on my way out because they had over shot themselves.

They really do not respect that these decisions can adversely change peoples' lives setting off a chain of events that I am all to aware of and I made sure that got touched upon both on the form and in person.

Whatever I might feel about Atos or Maximus pales into insignificance compared to what I feel towards successive governments who gave a private contract to deal with sickness and mental health pretty much washing their hands from direct contamination. To now be coming out with comments about being more understanding fools nobody who has been through this themselves or witnessed a family member suffering which is probably worse.

How long this state of affairs is going to carry on for and probably get worse yet who knows but I still think eventually there will be some huge landmark case that forces them to alter their ways not through caring or understanding but sleaze and embarrassment.
