Adzuna's Find-A-Job technology: Jobcentre Work 'Coach' user account access and social security entitlement, disallowance and sanctions

Frank Zola made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions

The request was partially successful.

Frank Zola 21 April 2018 Delivered
Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

What type of access will DWP and Jobcentre Work 'Coaches' have to the individual benefit claimant's account for the new 'Find A Job' (FAJ) service? Will benefit claimants be expected to register with FAJ and if they do not they could be issued with a Jobseeker Direction to register a new FAJ account, create a personal profile and upload their CV(s)
onto FAJ?

The current Universal Jobmatch (UJ) site that FAJ replaces requires account user consent/permission to allow DWP and Jobcentre Work Coaches to access individual's account's. For UJ benefit claimants can be mandated to register a new UJ account, create a personal profile, upload their CV(s) and apply for jobs through it as part of a Universal Credit (UC) requirement to spend 35 hours per week of Job searching. (UC entitlement conditions)

What I`m getting from this Paul (and others may think differently) is, we can be mandated/directed (forced) to OPEN a Find a Job account just because it replaces Universal Jobmatch and is a DWP project in the making, but we could ASLO ultimately be asked to open an account(s) with OTHER jobsites too? Even though most people do that anyway? I would probably choose one of the better job sites and have an account with them anyway where I could check it each or every other day and any emails I was sent through it.

With Find a Job, if (by their own admission) work coaches cannot ask for access to FAJ or CV`s or anything else on the site, are they then saying they are content that we have opened an account and let things lie? Or am I missing something?

Thanks for posting the link Paul. We have been disputing the adequacy of the response that Mr Zola got from DWP here for about a week now. Several threads are active almost exclusively devoted to said response, or the questions it seeks address and clarify.

Mr Zola himself was not satisfied with the DWP response; hence the half dozen or so new FOI requests he’s posted since seeking clarification. Several other activists on that site have made FOI requests seeking clarification as well. They all still await a DWP response.

It usually takes around 20 days to get a response. If the request is in any way controversal, from DWP point of view, the first response may take longer, or be so vague as to be a non-answer.

Should we wait and see what the full DWP response is to Mr Zola`s FOI BB and take that as gospel that what they say means what they say on FAJ? It`s possible that the other threads were generated not so much through ignorance of not reading the links that have been posted properly, but because there is a need of clarity on this that`s not happening fast enough for people to be able to know they have solid responses from DWP they can then use as evidence against any sudden rush to get them to sign up to this site. Going by what`s been posted so far is good reading and tells us that we don`t need to give access to a FAJ account, but I know a member has recently been asked to provide screenshots of their FAJ account by their work coach, so isn`t that trying to access the information in another way? Not them actually logging into the account, but asking or mandating claimants to show or send screenshots of their activity on the site?

I`m not sure the `access` rules should mean wat they say which should mean NO access, even by means of being able to see screenshots of someone`s activity?

You're right: You should wait. Been trying to persuade you of it for over a week.

I`m sitting on my hands now BB, honest! Strangely....I thought I posted the same link to that F.Zola link somewhere on the forum? Can`t remember where though as there are so many posts on FAJ.
