At last, a clear FOI request response. Quote:

" [1] “Claimants cannot be mandated to use the Find a Job website specifically. However, under Day One Conditionality in JSA, claimants are asked to create an account and upload a Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Find a job or another jobsite when they make a new claim. This requires claimants to have a suitable email address and to upload a CV to their Find a Job or another jobsite account. Where a claimant has not done this, their Work Coach can mandate them to do so."

I now have something to show my work roach that he can't argue with. This is all I joined this forum for, so I will probably leave soon - to many people's delight, no doubt.

A week or 2 back I posted a link to Frank's site which stated more or less the same, you must have somehow missed that. Now I need some time out, my once long fuse has just about burnt out.

Much the same was said in all of the FOI docs released on 15/5/18, but sometimes the art of FOI requests is to prompt the DWP to reply with comments like "Claimants cannot be mandated to use the Find a Job website specifically".

Less explicitly this:

“Find a job or other jobsites
1. As part of making use of the resources available to them to look for work, we can reasonably expect most claimants to make best use of Find a job or other jobsites.”

Says the same

Tactically some claimants may wish to use FAJ only as a search engine and only use it to apply for jobs that link to an application on the employers website. All of which can be done without an FAJ account or uploading one's CV to it or creating a personal profile thereon.

Well done Mr Zola for bringing this invaluable information to the forums attention. I have saved the information and like everyone else will be saving and printing this out for future reference. We all knew more or less that claimants would be asked or `forced` to open a FAJ account given DWP have recruited Adzuna to create the site on their behalf, so it`s not rocket science to know that people would be `obliged` to sign up to it but in the dark about having their accounts used against them. But the answers given in your FOI conclude what everyone wanted answered in that we DON`T have to use, or give access to it.

Makes me wonder why they bothered spending more money on yet another site they know they won`t have much control over.....

Does this also mean the Government Gateway accounts attached to UJM are also null and void now? Just curious really as we were required to open a GG account to create a UJM account. I know FAJ is different and just requires a username & password.

Jobmatch remains active till June 17th. Find a job has no connection to GG

The fact that GOV.UK is in cahoots with FaJ, as the name on the box would suggest, will have nothing to do with GOV.UK Verify, which is currently being developed by GOV.UK as some sort of an identity verification service to replace Government Gateway. Just a coincidence I expect.

FOI responses to requests for further details of this development seem to be slow in materialising as well.

Good point BB. The reason I asked about government gateway was that not only because it is/was linked to UJM, but wasn`t sure if this GG account was a bigger framework where anyone with a unique GG account number (not just to log into UJM) but to access other government areas? Not that I ever tested this theory but was that the case?

I imagine once UJM is taken down, that the account access for Government Gateway will also be void? So therefor, the unique number & password we used to access it will no longer be valid?

Just to remind yourself CoD you could check out the thread at:

welfarecentral.org/index.php/forum-home/jobcentre-plus/1620-gov-uk-verify

As you will see we had a pretty good go at bringing ourselves up to speed on the implications of GOV.UK Verify.

Notes on possibility of stopping 'Find a Job' being added to a JSA Claimant Commitment (CC), if the CC already includes references to "other" jobsites.
Apologies for cross posting this, but consider it would be particularly helpful to JSA claimants in the run up to the closure of Jobmatch on June 17th
