Increasing demand on the government to lift the 1% cap on public sector pay increases is fair and completely justified, but where is the public outcry over the benefits freeze that has left some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in our society in growing debt and dependent on food banks?

Our public service workers rightly deserve a payrise, after years of pay restraint inflicted by a cruel and callous government, but are poor and disabled people in any way less deserving of an income they can actually survive on?

Many of those affected by the benefits freeze are unable to work or are struggling to find a job, through no fault of their own, while the richest people in our society have been repeatedly granted generous tax cuts.

The complete scrapping of sanctions would be a start and prevent DWP from stopping people`s payments or cutting them, hence no housing benefit roll on or adding more numbers to the food bank queues. Living off £73.10p a week is hard enough, but to deny anyone that small pittance of money because they are not engaging enough or miss an appointment due to no fault of their own is puniative.

Get a job and be better off in work they say.....well lets start by giving those OUT of work a feeling of control again by changing the whole mindset of how Job Centres work and allowing claimants to choose what THEY want to do, not feel abused and worthless under a regime of hate.

As much as id like to see that happening i dont think it will us poor unemployed get no support from the public thanks to the bias right wing media and decades of bullshit ideology most of the public have been brainwashed in to thinking that we should all work for a liveing and if your unemployed your scum deserveing of nothing :(
even if we start droping dead from freezeing to death in the winter i feel like they would just sweep it under the rug for as long as posible, if we arent droping down dead in mass numbers they will continue to subject us to this misery

hell even then they still will not admit fault just look at greenfell have the torys acepted that austerity played its part yet? have they made any public apologies? i think not but we all know they played there part in that disaster with ther draconian regresive policys

We have nowhere to turn and always feel trapped with where we are with no insight to what will happen next. I`ve come to the conclusion after watching TV documentaries, listening to MP`s and news programmes that they don`t seem to have any agenda or plans to change anything as long as unemployment figures keep falling as they are (we all know why....due to people either falling off the system or taking low paid, dead end jobs).

It seems in London particularly, if a block of housing is planned for demolition, those already residing there have no chance of securing another house or flat in London unless they are working and can afford the rent, or are lucky enough to be offered accommodation in a stinking cockroach infested flat. It`s just utterly shocking and sickening that this government can hand hundreds of millions to foreign aid, but are quite prepared to see our own citizens freeze to death or starve. That to me is NOT a leadership, it`s a dictatorship.

What I find utterly shocking is that while speaking of how our society has become more cruel and insensitive to our plight, any one can also think that taking away "hundred of millions" for aids (and for the sake of discussion let assume they actually are delivered as such) to people that are clearly worse off than us.

Our elites have pocketed and are stealing trillions from the entire economy of this, and other countries, enough to give all of us a decent life, while not even impinging on their social status, and we are worried about taking back the crumbles that are supposed to be given to some poorer unfortunate?

Shame.

Lets not fall in the idiotic make believe of what we are told is a budgetary restrain. If one decides what to put in a budget than one can tailor to whatever end one wants.
I live in London, in one of the most rebuilded areas of the Country. There are plenty of empty "luxury" houses but if I only count council or housing association dwellings, I would think that their number has plummeted, their condition deteriorated and that rationing their use is the only solution.
Poverty in the midst of wealth is not a natural condition but an extremely unnatural one.
We all have to remember that only by opposing the egotistic dreams and promises of the elites we can ever hope to dislodge them. We should oppose the vision of an international elite each enjoying an autocratic gated community of their own country with one where humanism will make brothers of us all on this little and much imperilled world.

To eliminate unemployment one needs only to eliminate the unemployed
