www.thesun.co.uk/tech/8387677/internet-explorer-outdated-browser-security-alert/#comments

Read this in the news this morning but as the commenter said, don`t listen to those `yanks` as they are just trying to sell you something. Not sure how as Microsoft are saying they will be suggesting Google Chrome technology as the browser of choice? I currently use MS EDGE browser in Windows 10 by default and it`s been fine. I did have Chrome downloaded but uninstalled it because I use EDGE.

Any thoughts? Are MS saying they will be scrapping support for all their browsers by 2020 and merging with Google for Chrome usage? Not too sure what they mean but they are saying they are not continuing with security checks for older IE platforms.

First Point "The Sun" Banned from my home in every format since Hillsborough,

I have not used IE for many years, but some basic software cannot be installed without it, So that could be a problem.

I use Chrome, best I find for Radio & TV Streaming, and works well with my "Duck" Browser.

Removed Edge from my system when I installed Windows-10, Currently looking for a Windows-7 OS disc so I can get rid of Windows-10 completely.
but as 7 is now quite an old OS; support could be a problem.
Best move (And this is what im saving up for) is to get a MAC system and be Free of Virus ridden Windows for good. B)

How different is the Chrome browser in terms of usage Paul? Are the features on screen much the same as EDGE or is the main screen very different but still `user friendly`? I have a `Favourites List` of websites with EDGE so how would I get those onto Chrome, for example? If I switched browsers, I could see this being a problem and having to start from scratch saving all the websites I have on that Favourites list.

I prefer firefox myself but never IE because microsoft's search engine is useless got issues with google chrome and there growing monopoly on data collection so firefox is my preferd choice if I have to allow someone to collect my data I can at least filter some away from team evil

and when it comes to user friendly its all pretty similar to use there will be a slight adjustment but don't be afraid to click on things find out what icons do what and youl get the hang of it no problem

I`ll stick with EDGE for now as long as Microsoft are continuing to do updates and security for it and then if and when they announce any big changes around it, I`ll look at either Chrome or Firefox. I HATE change!

Haven't used Windows for 15+ years on my devices. I only use it on PCs when I have to print something at the local library.

I only had to use Wine on Linux to access an old (2003) Windows program for my amateur radio exam.

Agree Linux is a far better system, maybe a lack of Software, but far less virus and associated problems.
Im in the process of making the switch, lack of cash being the only thing to slow things down.

Firefox and google are better browsers imo.Better designed interface and work better with audio visual streams or appear to.

Its companies and their scumbag advertising that cause browser faults ,they just cant cope as images and video take up more bandwidth and if your on a donkey speed of a connection;won't matter what browser you use. Add blockers/ pop up blockers can help, but the poisonous advertising world are to blame for the www aka 'the world wide wait.'

Try looking at the daily mail website as is full of place holders and images and takes an age to fully load.I even find this using chrome. Not that i read that 'paper. '

Could try this Comply or anyone:
Disable toolbars and extensions directly from your browser
Open Internet Explorer.
Click on the Tools button (Cogwheel) from the upper right side of the window, and then click on Manage add-ons.
Under Show, choose “All add-ons” from the dropdown menu. ...
Select each add-on that you wish to remove and click on Disable.

I tried linux for a while a few years back have to say I was not impressed as I often encountered compatibility issues with software I would install and constantly found myself on help forums looking for work a around to get things working didn't take me long to go back to windows

And something to bear in mind for any current Linux users is that Linux is in the grip of cultural Marxism right now with feminists demanding more representation and equal outcomes and they have managed to push through a policy that discriminates against male contributors and this has caused many of the long term contributors to threaten to pull there intellectual property from the project and Linux is under threat of being destroyed right now.

Seriously couldn't make this shit up feminists bullying there way in to an open source project long time contributors have already been removed from the project to make way for women and they are very pissed off about it. Even the main creator Linus of Linus tech tips has abandoned the project and washed his hands of it so you would be wise to make sure you have a copy of windows kicking around just in case the situation dosent resolve itself.

It's examples like this why I have spoken in the past about equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome cultural Marxism destroys everything it touches
