Recently the world of online recruitment was rocked by Google’s unveiling of the Google for Jobs initiative. GFJ was launched in the US on 20 June, though the UK release date is yet to be announced.

This is arguably the biggest ever development in the history of online recruitment.

That the vast majority of job searches start via search engines rather than within job sites themselves is something that employment portals have learned to deal with. Google for Jobs now presents the possibility that Google will hang on to those job hunters through their own service.
It comes at a time when the job search and recruitment industry are growing at record levels and competition is at an all-time high.

But what does GFJ mean for the major job site players?

To try and answer that question, we’ll need to look a little further into what GFJ actually does.

Feel they should start looking into recruitment agencies who post jobs or leave them on websites as still active when its apparent to most their not.

Their either too bloody lazy to update them or just collecting peoples info to distribute to their clients on a free for all basis.

I was about to start a new thread about jobsites and which (according to members) do they think are the best in terms of negotiating why they should be the choice over Find a Job? I`m sure there is an exhaustive list of sites, but lets start by looking at the jobsites we are most familiar with and go from there in terms of usability, ease of use and more importantly, the sites that don`t harass jobseekers with emails about anything else except the jobs they have clicked and applied for. Or puting it another way, don`t waste our time by generating emails about jobs we are not interested in, or emailing us to `sign up to X agency` or would we like our CV looked at....

I always found Indeed.co.uk a good site. Admittedly, I was only on JSA for about five months before I won my ESA appeal, so within that space of time, I didn`t join any employment agencies or allow my CV to be uploaded onto any jobsites apart from UJM. But now that UJM is dead and buried and Find a Job is it`s replacement, we are going to need some good arguments as to which jobsites are as good, if not better at helping us look for work if we are to prove to a work coach that thy are justified over FAJ.

I wonder how this will affect FaJ? Will it give us an excuse (not that we need one by law) to tell work roaches why we don’t want to use it—ie that Google is better.

Google is by far a more effective way at producing job searches than any website that the gov may waste even more millions at creating   .

The half wits obviously have no idea as to how Google can be used to a job seekers advantage :)

Also, you could ask them to google Job sites and ask them where Find a Job is listed. Try it yourselves!
Flotsam: People who are considered to be worthless or to have been rejected by society.

Strange, I tried this just the other day and NO FAJ sire appeared, just government pages explaining what it was? I could only find a link to Find a Job through the actual Gov. website. Why isn`t it appearing when googled? If you google Adzuna, that jobsite site appears.
