Sometimes my WPP want to provide my passport/id for different screenings.

I don't even want to bring my ID to them, let alone show them or even let them photo copy it.

Can I be mandated to show them my id? Do they have the right to photo copy it?

As a private company mangling a contract for DWP they can't mandate you for jack shit.

Show them a couple of recent utility bills and ask them for their credentials/qualifications/H&S certificates etc.

Let's be right, you wouldn't trust your future livelihood to any old tin pot outfit! ;)

If they asked me to bring a passport in i would just refuse and wouldn't give them a reason why if they asked why not, the letter from your jobcentre is enough I.d to show them.If they send you away thats a bonus for you and don't mention anything to the jobcentre unless they ask you.You cant be sanctioned for refusing to show the wpp your passport/birth certificate.

Birth Certificates have "not a form of ID" written on them anyway ... I don't have a driving license, I don't have a passport, I changed my name by deed poll 15yrs ago and no longer have a copy of the certificate, all our household bills are in my OH's name - in all honesty I'd be kinda bu*****d if I was asked to show proof of ID

So far they wanted my ID for a few job screenings, apparently to prove that I am allowed to work in the UK. I thought just being on JSA and on WPP was proof enough that I can work in the UK. Perhaps I am wrong but it just feels wrong to have my ID copied every time.

You can tell your wpp that you do not want them to pimp your ass and withdraw consent for them to contact third parties on your behalf.

What passport? tell them you don't have one, there is no legal requirement for a British Citizen to hold a passport or indeed any photo ID

Thanks guys, I won't provide any ID whatsoever on any job screenings!

Another question, I know I have the right to refuse to fill in or sign any of my Work Programme Providers papers or forms. Does this extend to application forms for jobs? Do I have the right to take any job application form with me home and apply for the job myself? I get these application forms almost half of my visits to my WPP.

Ducray, As I understand it, any letter you write to another person, company, organisation etc, is your own private and confidential communication. No one else has the right to access your personal letters. I would never sign anything created at a Work Programme and I would certainly insist on taking it home with me. If there was any resistance I would ask for it to be shredded while I watched.

Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights provides a right to respect for one's "private and family life, his home and his correspondence", subject to certain restrictions that are "in accordance with law" and "necessary in a democratic society".

I hope that turns in to something for you, Ducray. But you'll forgive me for not racing to congratulate you just yet ;)

I would want to know who the prospective employer is first. I might have conscientious objections

It could be one of their lamb to the slaughter tactics, down here, joke centre round up as many sheep as they possibly can, usually around November, and have about 300 vacancies all conveniently become available at local agency, all sheep sent there; next stop WAREHOUSE ltd etc.

Good-luck Ducray, and i hope that it may turn into something that works out good for you.
