These people really do get my back up. I received a letter today `To help you back to work you have an interview` ... and goes on to say, `we will review your job seekers agreement`..... I`m not ON JSA? Although the hand-written phone number on the letter is the same as the last coach who was supposed to phone me and that got messed up because I had to call them to say the call I was waiting on didn`t materialise and they got someone else to call me back. So I`m guessing this JSA letter is just a hurriedly printed off appointment letter to alert me of my initial six week revue although it`s a week early.

I`m meeting with a voluntary organisation end of next week anyway to discuss opportunities so I will have that going for me when I see this coach mid-week. I`m sick of being treated as if I`m on JSA and feeling as though I`m not being taken seriously. The coaches I see at my job centre seem to think I`m capable and make assumptions even though I keep reminding them that the pain I have is not your average take a few pills and you will overcome it, type of pain. I am a pain clinic patient for a reason and even so, I`m still feeling as if I`m being watched and if I get too positive about anything, they seem to take that as me agreeing to do it, when I`m not.

Just so frustrated with this whole mess and never knowing what`s going to come next.

That always used to irritate the hell out of me too, I have multiple chronic health problems which were all dismissed with a hand-wave. Stick to your guns CoD, if you give them an inch they will take a yard; they know that a lot of ill people will simply give in if they pressurise them enough.

Too true Lazarus. Being on this forum and the UM before it reminds me that I need to stand up for myself and not bow to every gesture they make. It may help if I was allocated one coach to see at my job centre who could get to know me and how my pain affects what I can and can`t do, but that never seems to happen and I seem to see or speak to various different coaches all the time and it`s frustrating. I would ask to see a DEA (disability employment advisor) but I know who she is in my job centre and she`s just an ordinary work coach who I`ve seen on a few occasions and she always pushes things like ECDL courses and is just like the others. Has a mandate to push the mantle as far as she can. Not really listening to what I say or trying to match my limitations around what IS available.

I`ll have more to report after I see her so will report back. As I say, I`m seeing a voluntary organiser end of next week so if they have an opportunity I can fit into, all well and good. If not, I will just have to grit my teeth and wait for the axe to fall when I`m no doubt presented with the usual crap they hand out to people on ESA. But I will also be asking about the new employability stuff the Scottish government have just brought in which are all voluntary, so the coach should have something on this. If she doesn`t, I`ll be asking why.

Well appointment over with. Supposed to see this same advisor twice now and she was off again today, so was seen by someone else. I feel like playing musical chairs every time I go into my job centre because the coaches are always in different areas than before. Went fine though, but I think that`s because I do most of the talking and by the time I`ve bored them to death, they don`t really have much more to add! I see a voluntary sector organisation on Friday so I think because I`m taking control of my own ambitions, they are not too harsh with pushing the courses on me...yet.

When I went in, the coach that signed me on last year smiled and I walked over to show her the appointment letter which was worded as a jobseekers appointment and even she looked confused. Being on ESA these days seems to mean you are just seen as anyone else who walks through their doors. Fodder for anything....
