What It's Like To Lose Your Local Job Centre
Between 2016 and 2018, more than 100 job centres – about 15% of the network – were closed for good.

I am surprised with the tories always banging on about saving money why dont they shut every single one of them across the UK.

As we know their not fit for purpose, that's the job centres  And a drain on the public purse.Maybe we could have telephone calls from robots instead. That would save them a ton of cash but they know they couldn't bash the unemployed if they implemented that little idea. :)

Talk about saving money @Jobber. My local JCP is in the most expensive area of town, in a luxury office block  ? While it it lovely inside, I cant help thinking that the DWP could of saved themselves some money by relocating to a less expensive office apartment, or in a different part of the town? :S

It would be nice to see how much the DWP send on buildings in the UK a year???

I am waiting until they move JCP into other shops, like my local post office is shared by a well know 'sandwich' store. You go in for a stamps etc, and it smell of dough not a pleasant experience  . Maybe the JCP could share with a trendy "Coffee" Chain outlet. So you can get an over priced cuppa while you 'sign on', that will help the economy... :silly:

Some job centres moved into council offices. I would love that as my council offices are near a large Tesco! And I could deal with my council queries while in the same place. If my job centre closed it would mean a longer commute to the other one and two separate buses. But who knows what the future holds. UC is a digital service, but it`s only digital as far as claimants are forced to use it`s platform. The journal for example has to be read by a real person who then has to answer questions through it`s portal. I think we are a very long way away yet where job centres will be closed completely because they serve a purpose where claimants require face to face advice that they would struggle with over the phone or online.

Given the choice though, it would be far better and less stressful to hold interviews and conversations over the phone and not have to actually go into these places and be made to feel harassed. I do hope that day comes.

Face to Face Interviews, Help and Advice could very easily be done Over the web with a web Cam & Microphone, And an All Digital Journal cannot be to far away,
Would save time & Travel costs, More so on a Cold Wet day like today !.
