A new poll of Scottish voters has shown a majority back independence over Brexit. The news is likely to come as a blow to Theresa May ahead of the Commons Brexit vote.
Scottish Brexit worries

The Panelbase poll was commissioned by LBC and the Sunday Times. It showed that 53% of Scottish voters believe independence would be better for Scotland than leaving the EU with a deal. That figure rose to 59% when given the choice of independence or a no-deal Brexit.

Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain in the 2016 referendum, with 62% backing staying in the EU.

Overall, the poll makes for bad reading for May’s government. Only 29% back the PM to stay if the current deal does not get through parliament. It also found that over half of Scots support Labour’s position of a general election if the deal fails.
Long road ahead

Despite the positive numbers for independence supporters, there was no majority for independence in the poll. Only 47% of those polled would vote for Scotland to go it alone. That is a 2% increase on the result of the 2014 vote.

The only thing I worry about if Scotland did become independent would be that the Tories could still oust the SNP at some stage in the future and be running Scotland.

Wouldn`t be too bad if Labour got into power here but only if it was a Corbyn Labour and not a right wing Labour under some plank pretending to be a Labour MP when they act more like a right wink twat. We need people in power that understand the lowest levels of living standards to be able to impliment and understand the consequences of continuing with the status quo. If they can`t do that then they need to think twice about coming to Scotland`s Parliament.

I cant see a conservative party ever getting a strong foothold in Scotland least not in our lifetime in fact its something I used to say to people allot when asked why I wanted an independent Scotland.

I still want an independent Scotland just not under Nicola sturgeon.

I like Nicola. :P I`m sure there will be other`s in the SNP ready and willing to be First Minister but I can`t think of any that have her determination. She`s stubborn and no doubt she only has a budget that can stretch so far but I do wish our Parliament would speed up two things. Ending the bedroom tax for good and doing MORE to end sanctions not just by asking claimants to sign up to Fair Start to be seen as doing something that can`t end in a sanction should they walk away from it. Sanctions are what is BAD about our whole welfare system and need addressing more than anything else. But I ask myself, will they ever bother?

I just cant get behind her for a few reasons but mainly brexit and imigration policy's after brerxit she was so pro remain and wanted to try trigger an independence referendum in order to stay in the EU
comes across as a little hypocritical to me at the time and fundamentally the complete opposite of what Scottish independence is all about we woulda been leaving Britain only to be tied to something far worse.
Independence for me is about Scotland breaking free and exercising self determination and Scottish sovereignty as a nation something we would never have got with a Scotland ruled from Brussels.

Its called the Scottish NATIONAL party not the Scottish international party and to me Nicaloa dosn't really exhibit any national sentiment other than for political gain

She's done a U-turn on brexit now along with the Scottish public as a recent article I posted showed but you really have to ask yourself about her convictions and beliefs at this point if she can flip flop so easy like that because of changing public opinion.

Her policy's on welfare are good but like you said she talks the talk but.... well you know the rest.

And as for immigration she sounds suspiciously like Angela Merkel to me preaching the good word about multiculturalism like I said It'll be the Scottish international party if she gets her way.

You make some good points Finnster, especially the open door policy. I think though it would be too easy for Scotland to get Independence AND be a free spirit with trade etc, and stay part of the EU while other nations can`t agree what the UK should receive if we broke away entirely. The blackmail of it all means we either take what`s on offer or stand alone with the outcome of that. I`m sure the UK as a whole could survive such a thing in the long term, but look who would be champing at the bit to change all the good things we have in the UK like employment rights as we know them (for what they are) and all the other nice things people like Reece Mogg and IDS would love to see changed or scrapped. They are all out Brexiteers. I`m not sure I want to be agreeing with such mindsets as theirs!
