More 'Nanny State' for you  Echidna . You would think they would want people 'high as a kite' as they would be easier to control?

I spoke to a lad years ago who reckoned he was on the sick due to his cannabis addiction, don't know how he managed to get the doctor or DWP to swallow that.Obviously there's every chance he was lying to me.

My post was more about how the DWP would pay someone who said they couldn't work because of their addiction to an illegal drug,I'm sure they wouldn't pay out if someone said they were to tired to work because they had been out all night robbing.

It is all about control or at least the "philosophy of control".
Keep the plebs too busy and too needy to have the time and energy for mischief.

The worrisome trend is that what has been experimented in Australia will be re-proposed over here, especially if there is a strong Tory government in place.
Bashing the poor and authoritarianism are the staple bread for these degenerated.
To eliminate unemployment one needs only to eliminate the unemployed

However, don’t schemes like this create their own self-fulfilling prophecies. Where these people don’t get the support they need to get off these drugs/medicines. And therefore have no alternative but to go deeper into crime to feed their habit/live? While on the whole I am talking about the Class A’s. Nevertheless, just look at the problems that sanctions have caused people, regardless if they have a drugs problem or not?

Trying to identify where welfare recipients are using drugs by testing wastewater is more likely to turn up results from affluent professionals, researchers say

If a political party had the balls to legalise cannabis which is the least harmful substance compared to alcohol and tobacco, in fact evidence shows it has beneficial effects.

The savings alone in law enforcement would run into billions, it would also allow those who live on the fringes because they enjoy this natural wonder and alienated by the common herd to come in from the cold.

By legalising cannabis and allowing people to grow in their own homes would create a new cottage industry whereby any access can be sold on to pharmaceutical companies and customers, this would put another many billions into the government coffers.

The same laws that govern micro breweries could be employed and by its very nature a small grower with a decent strain could easily compete with larger companies.
I have smoked cannabis for 40 years and not blowing my own trumpet but I am healthier and fitter than most of my peers who drink alcohol.

I have lost 2 friends due to alcohol abuse and 1 due to alcohol related accident no one I know has ever been harmed by cannabis.

Must say they responded fast to my post, stuck between a party that will end sanctions and a party that will allow people to grow cannabis in their own homes.

As an award wining cannabis grower I will not need benefits if legalised and I can can become self sufficient overnight, so sanctions will become a moot point for me lol

Strangely enough, I was reading a thing in the UC regulations that (If I understood it correctly) basically said you can have 6 months off from jobsearching if you can prove you're addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, so long as you also attend AA/rehab and provide evidence that you're taking part.

Pass the bong :woohoo:

Maybe I could ask my work-roach if I can get some "LSD therapy", to help me get a job, as it seemed to help Cary Grant? :silly: . So maybe the 'federal budget' should be dispensing drugs instead of prohibition of them?
