I was looking into some stuff and found that if you live more than a hours travel away from the JCP you can do postal signing.
10 mins from door to bus stop
10 mins from bus stop to JCP
Bus journey time 30 mins

If my bus stop was further or slower and increased my journey time by 10 mins then I would be postal signing.
If there is no local transport then according to your circumstances and health they say 3 miles walk in 1 hour is a reasonable distance, 3.1 miles no transport postal signing.

Now I have never mentioned my aversion to public transport or dodgy foot that takes me 1 hour 10mins to do 3 mile, maybe now is the time, save me 5a per visit in costs.

Interesting dboy. Something for everyone to note and `time` their journeys on a `good day`. See how long it takes from home - to bus - from bus - to job centre. Then STOP the clock! Most Smartphones have timers on them these days, or you could just use your wrist watch and take notes.

Yep especially with the closures it could affect a lot of people, I know next time I move I am going find a place 20 mins further up the road :)

Something the CAB would never dream of advising lol

It sounds good Dboy the 'postal signing' gig. But how does the job search criteria work out with the Roach, do you need to do it all online, or do you tell them over the telephone???

You might be able to arrange to send it via Email as well but not gone too far into it at moment.

Long time since I did postal signing (1993), had to get verification and they accepted the signature of my next door neighbour who wasn't so bad most of the time although I never liked asking and in the end was glad not to have to do it anymore when I moved. It was okay not having to sign on for a while though, so mixed feelings about it. I still had to go into the JC periodically and occasionally someone would call round to my house unannounced to see how I had been getting on but she only stopped for a few minutes, didn't even need to come inside. Of course that was long before sanctions so I expect it will be a bit stricter somewhere along the line now.
