First off let me say I don't agree with Tim on this one (not often I disagree with Tim) and the reason I'm sharing this video is because I think its wise to know what detractors have to say so you can argue your case against them.
but I totaly disagree with him on this one and most of his arguments I don't buy in to the narrative that people will just become lazy and only follow there own interests and not work I prefer to believe that the majority of people will always strive to improve there lot in life given the chance.
I feel like for me personally it would get me back out to work as for the first time in a while I will actually see working as beneficial and not be left feeling like I'm working for next to nothing.
when he says stuff like wages will have to go up to match UBI I think he's dead wrong because no one loses out from working they only gain there is no downside to earning more money on top of your UBI
right now we can complain about how shit minimum wage is but if you had a UBI most people and myself would be quite happy to work for minimum wage

I do have some reservations about UBI but nothing tim brought up in this video like I do have concerns about a society becoming so dependant on the state if the state fails so do you and thats something worth keeping in mind

I also have concerns regarding the cost of living because landlords/power company's ect may just increase there prices and essentially fleece you of you UBI

I also have concerns about it being eroded over time much like our current welfare system witch used to be very good back when when it was called social security and thus eventually we will just come right back to where we are now.

but despite my concerns I still think its a good idea worth trying and would like to see the UK give it a shot. but anyway here is the video I highly recommend you have a listen so you can strengthen your arguments

My argument in the other thread is to remove sanctions and allow payments to be made `as they are` but without the conditionality attached. That in itself would act as a UBI without trying to work out another `pilot` system separated from the UC system we already have set up. More cost and no doubt, more negative results from trying to impliment something they will always see as a non starter.

"Finland basic income trial left people 'happier but jobless'"

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-47169549

I heard someone on the radio talking about UBS - (Universal Basic Services) as an alternative to UBI . No money just services - the foodbank principle rolled out to everything!

Possibly because there were not enough jobs to fill anyway and always been the case. There will be jobs out there, but only for people who `meet the criteria` for that job. Therefor, there will always be people who are `unemployed`. That`s fact. Just the government won`t accept it. They live in a deluded world where they think everyone can work and find a job for life or die trying.

Very true CoD no government in history has ever achieved a 100% employment ratio and giving people a basic income is not the same thing as creating jobs within your economy especially if you only pay it out at the same rate as current benefits.
Maybe if you paid folk a healthy basic income then people would have the opertunity to use that money to start up buisnesses but its unlikely you will see a UBI rate that high and tbh I have some reservations about paying a UBI at such a high rate because it will most likely lead to hyper inflation.
