I hope this may help some on this forum who may now be even more concerned with how they show their current and future job searches.

Compile joke search and take screenshots using a phone and show roach pics.

The searches are itemized with lovely timestamps in many websites of which you can delete using any built-in graphics program.

Copy and paste from job search website/'s of your choice into a word doc, take the pic with the phone already for roach; maybe put pics on a tab if you have one.

Write a list of screenshots onto A4 or whatever size notepad of your choice; keeping all relevant info from searches on your PC or USB stick.

Using Gmail is all good providing there is folder capability, I can't remember if not free outlook account works wonders;1 folder for applications made, another for declines, another for follow-ups etc.

When using Google Gmail of which I created an account today just as an example for others.

Choose from left-hand side panel window, create the new label which will be your 1st folder for example and name it Joke search or whatever for applications.

1.Manage Labels
2.Create New Label

You will see the labels are your folders if using Gmail.

Just do this as many times as you feel folders are required and you are done.

Drag or save email in and out to relevant folders.

Anyone familiar with using folders on pcs will know this stuff others may have to practice as most email accounts are generic but still slightly different in the way their interface is designed.

Another way is to send the roach a spreadsheet or a word doc, camera shots from phone or PC.

Hope this has helped some. :)

Thanks for this jobber. :) I looked at that link Tarquin posted in the other thread and took some notes down about creating a folder/label in gmail but have yet to create one. This would be new to me so need to understand how to use and navigate using these folders so I can `tick` the box next to an incoming email, open the little `tag` that appears at the top and give it a name. Then apply it. Sounds easy but no doubt I will mess it up!

Honestly it's more or less foolproof! :P

For my jobseeking related gmail account I like to keep it simple as possible regarding labelling. Some people could get really anal and set different labels for different jobsites but I prefer to keep all jobs applied from under the one label. There are ways you can configure so that emails from those certain sites are automatically sent to one particular label/folder but I prefer to do it manually.

If you ever get into difficulties, CoD, there are plenty of tutorials out there to help.

...and finally, the title of this topic needs editing, I'm sure that's supposed to be acceptable and not exceptable! B)

Tarquin, I will save them all under the same title (keep it simple!) and then can reply, save or rename them if I choose to. I looked at that automated section where you change the settings so that gmail recognises different sources and saves them in their own named folders, but that sounds a bit more complicated for me as I like to be able to find what I`m looking for!

I will try it with some emails that come in and see how I get on. Will report back.

One question: I opened my gmail account, clicked on the box next to an email from my ISP, which then brought up the small label icon at the top. I clicked on this label icon and a menu appeared asking:

Label As:
So I type in BT (not my real ISP)

I then click on `Create` and another box pops up asking:
Nest Label As:

What does `nest label as` mean? Is it asking me to give the file/label a title which will then appear in my left hand menu on my main screen so I can scroll to it and open it from there? I cancelled out of it for now as I wasn`t too sure what it was asking?

Personally, I never bother nesting the label. But it really is quite straightforward... you can nest the label under another "main" label. So for a label named Jobs you can nest underneath that other labels such as job applications. This keeps all related emails in the one place, not scattered everywhere. It is also explained in the link I provided in the previous now locked thread.

dont think you need to create what Gmail calls a nest label comply, off the top of my head I think you would just be attaching some kind of subfolder, if that's what you want to do then that's all fine.

Like

1st main folder label: Applications and a nest /subfolder could be named
May 2018 applications, for instance so their all in 1 tree so to speak.
Then another to store June 2018 applications in and so on.

the above is just an example hope i make some kind of sense.

just need to get in the habit of thinking type info into a document and SAVE document to X folder.
Once you've done it a good few times it comes easy.

So I should just choose `label As` to create a folder name and `tic box` all the emails that arrive from job applications and send them to this folder? I don`t really want to create a folder within a folder within a folder....if you know what I mean! I`d get lost in a paper bag so don`t want to have too many folders!
