Excellent Mr Zola. When the time comes (if I need to make a new claim and am not managed onto UC) reading that list, I would either leave the mobile phone question blank, or if it was a `required field` I would put 11 x 00000000000 as my number! But give a valid email address for updates.

For ID purposes I would ring the claim number to make an appointment and go to my job centre rather than go through that GOV.verify.

Bank card = yes
Birth Certificate = yes
NHS card = yes
NI number for the call = yes.

:)

Useful link
“I must have photo ID to start a claim”
benefitmythbuster.net/myths/i-must-have-photo-ID-to-start-a-claim

If thinking about obtaining photo ID,just for a UC claim, consider how obtaining such will also require proof of ID and endorsement by a second person (passport and driving license). And the proof of ID needed for a passport or license should meet ID requirements for a UC claim.

"If you haven't got photo ID, or other ID, your work coach can ask you security questions instead - have a look at the link below to see what questions you might be asked."

These are the documents I would rely on as I don`t have a driving licence, photo ID, passport etc....so would be relying on my bank card/statements, Tenancy agreement, birth certificate, NHS card etc....

It`s such a wide area of advice it`s never easy to know what the minimal paperwork actually is they require. For example, if we don`t have those `paid for` identity formats, why don`t they just say bring with you a, b, c and d? Would make our lives a bit simpler.

CoD have you looked in to what I mentioned about local housing authority helping people get photo ID ?

I know my local council helped someone I know get there's, of course this may not be the case for all local housing authority's but it may be worth you looking in to in order to simplify things.

Not yet Finnster but was on the phone to my council yesterday related to housing benefit and wanted to ask the revenue department a few questions. Chances are I will be visiting their offices soon anyway so will ask about it. They can only say no! I know they ask people who apply for concessionary travel etc to apply for an ID card so they might have something similar for just ID purposes generally. Will note this and ask them.

in the PDF data.parliament.uk/DepositedPapers/Files/DEP2016-0778/Identity_verification_and_standards_of_evidence_v4.0.pdf

If two or more employees
of the jobcentre know the claimant as part of their job
role, a personal security number can be issued to the claimant without them
providing identity.

SO WHY ARE THEY MAKING IT SO DIFFICULT?!!!

That`s interesting moogs about the personal security number. I think they could do this as a default for many people to save more time wasting until they CAN get more ID evidence. It would mean the claim could be up and running quicker, but it`s a `no can do` attitude they stick to.
