universal credit rollout as report shows it fails to deliver

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/universal-credit-roll-out-report-beneifts-work-pensions-dwp-value-for-money-a8399026.html

Now schools are begging for toilet paper due to TORY cuts, what other wonderful ideas are next Mrs May.

www.thesun.co.uk/news/uknews/6535747/st-edmund-campion-catholic-primary-school-begs-families-donate-toilet-roll-teaching-material/

Watchdog’s damning verdict The NAO report said the new streamlined system was in reality costing more to administer that the previous system of six benefits it replaced. Each claim is currently costing £699 to process, compared with an projected cost of £173 per claim by 2024. Some claimants are having to wait five months for payment.

Maybe this is why we cant use joke centre toilets as they also have run out of toilet paper  Keep on cutting Ms May, doing a great job  :cheer: .

More news about this shambles @Jobber  . Has IDS  commented about his brain child this Universal credit system? I wonder if it has been engineered to be this way, to make peoples lives a living misery?

IDS is a murderer. Last number I saw was that 120,000 people had died as a result of UC. UC has caused a massive increase in foodbank use.

IDS ran off and hopes everyone will forget that he is responsible for the UC disaster.

Will anyone take action, or even notice after today?

IDS calling for £2bn more to be spent on UC. Obviously they are not killing people fast enough for his liking. Meanwhile he lives comfortably off his wife's family.

Whatever "idea" IDS has to say will be something else to penalise us all with or try his very best.

There has been a lot of coverage today on BBC LBC Radio London absolutely slating this circus with a bunch of deluded TORYS trying their hardest to justify what a great help this is to everyone using it.Specialist work roach's who give tailored training and help, a system that helps people into work "quicker and remain in work longer."

IMHO, we have pen pushers at all joke centres just clock watching, ticking boxes getting the nice salary and going home. All this specialist tailored bullshit the politicians are spouting, is just that!

The help currently being given by DWP is:

Stop benefits.
Pay benefits late.
Apply sanctions.
Be difficult with claimants if for example they want to change their CC.
Be unclear when it comes to arranging next appointments.
Change CC's one week and not the next.
Get people to attend joke shops for the hell of it outside of UC "signing times"and not reimburse fuel/bus fares.
Send them on irrelevant courses with a certificate given at the end not worthy for toilet paper to any employer.

anyone feel free to add to this list. :)

They are all full of crap with their head buried firmly in the sand.

I`m wondering how they manage to implement such policies that cost billions and fail to achieve the same (or better) level of service and then justify it by saying they are helping people stay in work longer and to `go to their job centre for help`? HELP????? That`s the last place we should go given the non-existing help they offer anyone except to tell them they are a failure and should get a job.

Heres some more statistics about the roll out of the Univ Credit, not sure if they are covered by the Benefit Bolshie link thou?

intensiveactivity.wordpress.com/2018/06/15/universal-credit-rubbish-official-national-audit-office-report/

"Key findings in the National Audit Office included:

• Eight years after work began on UC, only 10% (815,000) of the expected eventual number of claimants are on the system

• Some 20% of those paid late – usually the more needy and complicated cases – were waiting five months or more to be paid

• Ministers would never know if their aim of putting 200,000 extra people in employment, or saving £2.1bn in fraud and error, would work

• Government expectations that UC would deliver £8bn of net benefits annually depended on “unproven assumptions”

• UC currently costs £699 per claim – four times as much as the government intends to spend when the systems are fully developed

• So many changes had been made to job centres and working practices that there is no “alternative but to continue”

Summary – Rolling out Universal Credit.

Key facts £1.9bn spend to date on Universal Credit, comprising £1.3bn on investment and £0.6bn on running costs £8.0bn

Department for Work & Pensions’ expectation of the annual net benefi tof Universal Credit, which remains unproven

Number of late payments of new claims in 2017,113,000.

Other elements:

• One in five claimants do not receive their full payment on time.

• Universal Credit is creating additional costs for local organisations that help administer Universal Credit and support claimants.

• Some claimants have struggled to adjust to Universal Credit. We spoke to local and national bodies that, together, work with a significant minority of claimants. They showed us evidence that many of these people have suffered difficulties and hardship during the rollout of the full service. These have resulted from a combination of issues with the design of Universal Credit and its implementation. The Department has found it difficult to identify and track those who it deems vulnerable. It has not measured how many Universal Credit claimants are having difficulties because it does not have systematic means of gathering intelligence from delivery partners. The Department does not accept that Universal Credit has caused hardship among claimants, because it makes advances available, and it said that if claimants take up these opportunities hardship should not occur. However in its survey of full service claimants, published in June 2018, the Department found that four in ten claimants that were surveyed were experiencing financial difficulties."

I have always felt that the only reason Ian Duncan Smith resigned was because DPAC was following him around and shouting "murderer" at him.
